The Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair (DRSEF) is a non-profit organization that holds an annual science fair for 6th – 12th grade students at public, charter, private and home schools in Texas Education Agency Region 10. The fair covers all of Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman and Rockwall counties and part of Henderson and Van Zandt counties. DRSEF’s first fair was in 1957. DRSEF is affiliated with the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair.
Volunteers contribute the majority of support to the fair operations every year. Teachers provide mentorship to students as well as provide fair day support. Volunteer judges from dozens of local companies provide expert review of our young scientists. Local community members provide support via fair day support, scientific review, and other vital operations. Our board members serve adjunctly to their roles in education, technology, and financial services.

840,000 students from about 1,220 campuses are eligible for DRSEF. The Junior Division for grades 6 to 8 provides middle school ages students the ability to prefect their skills and ready for their high school careers. The Senior Division covers students in grades 9 through 12 and helps prepare these students for their future in university, trade school, and the military.
Around 800 projects from about 1,000 students attend DRSEF each year. Most students begin their Science Fair endeavor by entering the fair at their local school. Some districts then hold district fairs which advance their district winners to DRSEF. However, other districts are directly promoted to DRSEF after their school-level fair.
Grand Prize winners are sponsored by DRSEF to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships and internships are available to successful ISEF students. A larger group of students are eligible to compete in the Texas State Science Fair.
The Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair is extremely competitive. DRSEF winners frequently place highly at both the state and international levels. The Dallas region frequently dominates at the Texas fair. In addition, DRSEF alumnus have won Grand Prize at the International Fair.
